The national bird of India is Peacock (Pavo cristatus). The male of the specie is more beautiful than the female. It is admired for its glistening blue neck and a fan shape crest. It has a spectacular bronze-green tail of around 200 elongated feathers. The female of the specie is brownish, slightly smaller than the male and has no tail. The courtship dance of the peacock, fanning out the tail and preening its feathers, especially during the rainy season, is a gorgeous sight to watch.
